PRESS RELEASE Workshop in the Framework – “Development of EU harmonized services for training activities in the domain of critical infrastructures towards the implementation of the 2008/114/EC Directive”.

Curriculum

The curriculum will include the following sections:

• A theoretical section developing issues related to critical infrastructure protection and
• a tabletop exercise for the practical application and consolidation of the concept to be presented during the theoretical part of the training workshop.

The theoretical part of the training will cover, inter alia, the following issues:

• Analysis of the Directive on security of network and information systems (NIS Directive) and Council Directive 2008/114 / EC, particularly concerning the issue of assets and essential services and their interaction.
• Presentation of research and innovation European programs on CIP and how the relevant outcomes of these projects could be exploited in practice by end users to enhance the resilience of their infrastructures and Interoperability and Interdependencies between Critical Infrastructures.
• The protection of critical infrastructure in the energy sector in EU  Countries – case studies, best practices presented by relevant experts.

The training program will involve experts from the JRC, as well as experts    from relevant departments of European countries. Operators from Critical Infrastructures in the energy sector will be invited to provide best practices and analyze case studies on security and safety issues on the energy sector.

The expected outcome of the workshop will be an enhanced security environment in the area of critical infrastructure and the establishment of an informal network among energy sector stakeholders.
