Research area:

Fighting terrorism requires an arsenal of tools. One of these is knowledge about explosive precursors – chemical substances that can be used for legitimate purposes, but can also be misused for the illicit manufacture of home-made explosives.

In this context, the EU-funded ODYSSEUS project will develop effective and efficient prognostic, detection and forensic tools to improve prevention, countering and investigation of terrorist incidents involving home-made explosives. The knowledge will help in the development of tools for monitoring the chemical supply chain and sensing in (near) real-time explosive precursors. The tools will be field-tested in three operational use cases.
