CEPOL & Framework Partnership
Since 2016, the Center for Security Studies (KEMEA) has been a Framework Partner of CEPOL (the EU Agency for Law Enforcement Training). In this role, KEMEA works closely with CEPOL to plan, deliver, and evaluate training activities that adhere to CEPOL’s quality standards and methodologies.
Our role and contribution
- KEMEA has organised and delivered CEPOL training courses across a wide range of thematic areas, including forensic technologies, cybercrime and OSINT, public order and football security, hate crimes, fundamental rights and soft skills.
- For several years, KEMEA has implemented CEPOL’s flagship Train-the-Trainers course, in close collaboration with partner institutions from Portugal and Austria. Through this, KEMEA has gained significant expertise in designing and delivering train-the-trainer activities, which equip participants with both specialist knowledge and the pedagogical skills to cascade this expertise within their own organisations.
- Beyond CEPOL-specific activities, KEMEA actively contributes to the training dimension of EU-funded projects, ensuring that innovative results are translated into practical learning opportunities for practitioners.
Team & infrastructure
KEMEA maintains a dedicated team of training experts, consisting of researchers and Hellenic Police officers seconded to the Centre. Training activities are supported by KEMEA’s facilities, which include a main multipurpose hall (capacity ~200) suitable for large-scale events, as well as several fully equipped rooms for breakout sessions and group work, allowing for flexible, interactive, and practice-oriented learning. It also accommodates dissemination events and workshops.
Strategic engagement
KEMEA also maintains an active presence in CEPOL’s Knowledge Centre for law enforcement cooperation, information exchange and interoperability (CKC INT), where experts from Member States and EU bodies come together to shape CEPOL’s training portfolio in these critical areas for security and border protection in the European Union.
