KEMEA coordinates the implementation of the EU co-funded Project \u201cI_do: a youth-led alliance, building @ctive Roma citizens\u201d (REC Programme 2014-2020) in the operational context of its Social Policy and Preventive Security sector.<\/p>\n

The aim of the I_do Project is to support the active participation of young Roma in public life, with the express purpose of providing knowledge about the functioning of Local Government and empowering them to be active citizens on equal terms.<\/p>\n

To this end, the following activities are expected to be implemented:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Field research in 3 Greek Regions (Attica, Thessaly and Central Macedonia) to assess needs in Roma civic engagement and preparedness of local societies for Roma participation in decision making at a city level.<\/li>\n
  2. 5-month training of 33 young Roma on the functioning of Local Government bodies and mentoring to enhance civic skills.<\/li>\n
  3. 6-month operation of a youth-led Digital Assembly with the participation of the trained young Roma and 22 Local Government officers with a view to developing Policy Reports addressing urgent challenges for the benefit of the whole local society in which young Roma live.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    At the current stage of the project implementation, training activities have been accomplished. On that basis, in order for the trainee Roma to be encourage and as a minimum reward for their effort, KEMEA donated 7 personal computers to young Roma from the Attica Region, who<\/p>\n

    In order to encourage young Roma who take part in the I_do Project and as a minimum reward for their effort, KEMEA donated personal computers to Roma trainees from the Attica Region, who showed exemplary diligence during their 5-month training.<\/p>\n

    The donation ceremony took place in the premises of KEMEA, on 31 October 2019.<\/p>\n

    The donated computers were officially delivered by KEMEA Director, Mr. Panayiotis Tryfiatis, EETTAA Director of Research, Training and Lifelong Learning, Ms. Georgia Gonou, Mr. Athanassios Houpis, National Television Journalist, as well as Ms. Athanasia Siapera and Mr. Manolis Rantis, Coordinators of the National Monitoring Mechanism for Roma Social Inclusion.<\/p>\n

    It should be noted that, following a relevant request on behalf of EETTAA, partner of the I_do consortium, to the Regional Union of Central Macedonia Municipalities, the latter donated personal computers to Roma trainees from the Central Macedonia and Thessaly Regions.<\/p>\n
