In the frame of European Research Programme Medi@4sec with<\/a> KEMEA having an active role in the project for the use of social media in public security, the \u2018Dark Web\u2019 workshop organized by TNO on 26th of September 2017 in Hague received a big success with a global evaluation score of 9\/10.<\/p>\n

\u2018Which are the criminal activities that are facilitated by the Dark Web and which actions have to be taken in order to reduce and eliminate them?\u2019;<\/p>\n

this was the central question of the workshop for the 70 participants of international law enforcement, research and business experts who police crime on the Dark Web. The goal for the day was to exchange knowledge and share best practices across Europe and to sketch the future of Dark Web policing.<\/p>\n

The increasingly growing activities on the Dark Web have created new channels and opportunities for the development of dark and illegal markets, cyberattacks, financial crimes and terrorisms.<\/p>\n

 In this dark online environment where criminals with their anonymity collaborate and operate quickly and innovatively, the requirements for international co-operation, information exchange and shared analytics tools for investigators, common legal framework with cryptocurrency regulations, mandatory risk assessments for service providers and cyber-relevant companies and the dark markets disruption with innovation at research level were some of the significant and emerging outcomes of the workshop. <\/p>\n

 \u201cA global combating strategy is tough to achieve, therefore we have to focus on concrete initiatives\u201d says Markus Walter, European Commission, \u201cnot only at the European level; many coordinated local efforts exist and should be strengthened\u201d. <\/p>\n
