Athens, 27 October 2015<\/p>\n

The Center for Security Studies – KEMEA<\/strong> and ADITESS<\/strong>, successfully presented the INSPEC2<\/sup>T<\/strong> Project during the 2nd Annual Conference of European Neighborhood Watch Association (EUNWA)<\/strong> in Castel Ritaldi, Perugia – Italy.<\/p>\n

The EUNWA Conference took place during the 23rd and 24th of October 2015<\/strong> and was attended by approximately one hundred people from 11 EU Member States with representatives from Ministries, Local Authorities, Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), distinguished members of the Academia, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). Moreover, there were participants from 2 European countries outside EU, and more specifically Moldavia & Switzerland, representing Neighborhood Watch NGOs.<\/p>\n

The topic of the Conference was “Security in the neighborhood and in Europe”<\/strong> and the discussions conducted around the above-mentioned topic included issues regarding Policing Protocol, Community Policing best practices in European countries, the future of Neighborhood Watch in Europe along with the issue raised about cities segmentation. Furthermore, crime prevention through the scope of environmental design and risk analysis to prevent domestic burglaries, and the vital role of communities regarding the fight against serious and organized crime.<\/p>\n

The INSPEC2<\/sup>T Project was presented by Mr. Panayiotis Papanikolaou from the Center for Security Studies – KEMEA, Ministry of Citizen Protection, Greece and Ms. Elisavet Charalambous from ADITESS, Cyprus. Conference participants have illustrated great interest in the INSPEC2<\/sup>T Project which involved both the project’s conceptual architecture as well as the deployed approach for the elicitation of end-user requirements. More specifically, emphasis on the pillars of Citizens’ awareness and Legal\/Ethical issues was given while the project’s integrated technological architecture was also discussed.<\/p>\n

The participants expressed their intention to follow up with the project’s progress as well as their intentions to participate in the forthcoming INSPEC2<\/sup>T trials. Many of the participants expressed their thoughts on finding channels of collaboration between the concept of Neighborhood Watch and the INSPEC2<\/sup>T Project, as the latter is a highly regarded solution in Community Policing.<\/p>\n
