Within the framework of the European project "Rad2Citizen: Extremism, Radicalisation and Citizenship", Toulouse Metropole organized a two-day conference on July 5th and 6th, 2021. The two-day conference was held with the objective of bringing together the European partners of the project (City of Malaga, CIFAL Malaga, the Center for Security Studies - KEMEA of Athens and the University of Applied Sciences of Salzburg), the European Commission and finally, institutional actors (local, national and European) associated with or interested in the project.
The scope of the aforementioned conference was to present the project and its progress, to exchange best practices on the issues of radicalisation, extremism and citizenship and to organize onsite visits around these topics.
The day of July 5th was dedicated to the steering committee of the project, followed by field visits in the Arnaud Bernard district in the city of Toulouse and the district of Vivier Maçon, in the city of Cugnaux, where the delegation was welcomed by the Mayor of Cugnaux, Mr. Albert Sanchez.
The day of July 6th was dedicated to best practices exchange with the participation of project’s European partners and local and national actors. Opening remarks were made by the President of Toulouse Metropole, Mr. Jean-Luc Moudenc, and the representative of the European Commission and policy officer at the DG HOME, Mr. Mathieu Orsi.
During the last session of the conference, two round tables were held. The first round table aimed at sharing different perspectives on violent extremism prevention strategies. In the second one, professional insights on support of violent radicalisms situations were discussed. Both round tables hosted a wide range of speakers from France and Europe.
